INTERNSHIP JOURNAL - WEEK 15

Ultra short and final update. Today is my last day at my internship and I can’t believe the day has come already. Time has flown so quickly! It has been a relaxing week with Photoshop, packing orders and delivering the packages to the post office. My reflection of my trainee period is written in my report but I have been happy with my internship at hvisk. The task where you have to attach the jewelry on models at Photoshop is not done yet. I have been offered a student job so I can finish this task. Today I accepted the offer so it’s not really my last day here. Just my last day as an intern :-)

INTERNSHIP JOURNAL - WEEK 13

This week I...

completed the ‘How to be social’-mail and 'Affiliate stylist'-mail.
made a return form.
took over another’s intern task since she was ill. I made the final touch of an email. hvisk is searching for new stylists and when we have scouted some ladies they will be sent this email.
took some pictures which will be used in a campaign.

And that's what I have been occupied with! I’m staying home (and visiting cafés and libraries) next week to focus on some entrance examinations. Therefore there will be no updates next week.

INTERNSHIP JOURNAL - WEEK 12

I have focused on the ‘social media’ mail this week. The title of the mail is HOW TO BE SOCIAL. I got some feedback from my draft yesterday and edited the document thereafter. I’ll be working on the final touch today so we can send the mail soon. What else have I been doing? We got 5000 likes on Facebook last Friday and we celebrated it with 20% off everything this week. Many took advantage of this discount so I have been helping with packing orders and going down to the post office to deliver the packages. I have also done a little bit of the usual Photoshop and put jewelry in place in the storage room.

INTERNSHIP JOURNAL - WEEK 11

I got a new task this week! I was asked to layout a mail that will be sent to all hvisk’s stylists. The mail informs about some best practices in terms of social media. I used my previous email newsletter as a template so it will have the same visual look. Two mockups down and I will continue on working on this task tomorrow. Beside doing this I had my usual doing on Photoshop.

INTERNSHIP JOURNAL - WEEK 10

This week was a bit of a mess. It may have been a culmination of feeling ill and trying to satisfy two persons who wants two different things. I don’t know which one irritated me the most but the cocktail definitely had a bad taste in my mouth. I was asked to make a "lookbook" that focused on necklaces, chains and pendants. I was actually okay with the result of the assignment but then my work got edited and I don’t feel like it’s my work any longer. This has been my least favourite work at my internship. I felt too ill and tired to protest and in the end I just wanted the assignment to be over. It’s done now so I have also been doing some Photoshop work, taken a picture for the website and packed orders.

INTERNSHIP JOURNAL - WEEK 9

Quick quick quick post. Last week I came home from an amazing, and too short, holiday in the UK. I came home Tuesday but first went back to work at the internship place Thursday. There was åbent hus (open house? - I can’t remember the right term for this in English) at KEA last Wednesday so that’s why I first showed up Thursday. I went back to good old Photoshop and a new task. The new task was about a new campaign. I got another new task today so I’m not sure if I’m still in with the first one. I’ll talk more of these two new tasks later. Anyhow, remember the picture I talked about at my latest post? The one I said was on a newsletter. Last week it came to all hvisk’s media platforms - the website, Facebook and Instagram. Have a look below.

INTERNSHIP JOURNAL - WEEK 8

I’m off to England to visit some family tomorrow so here’s an early update on what I’ve been doing this week. The week began with Photoshop and more Photoshop. I’ll spare you with some more screenshots of my Photoshop work for now. I think we have seen too many of those lately. I have also helped of one the other interns to translate some text from Danish to English and Tuesday I got a new fun task. I was asked to come up with some layout suggestions for an email newsletter. The newsletter will be sent to those who applied to be a stylist for hvisk and got approved. This letter tells them they got approved and what the next step is as well the benefit of being a stylist at hvisk. I made four suggestions, which can be seen below.

By the way one of my pictures (the picture to the right) is in the latest newsletter sent to all hvisk’s stylists. Yay! I’m going to see alt-J tonight and tomorrow I’m on a flight to England. Good times! I’ll be back Wednesday so be prepared for another short update again next week. Have a nice little Friday and take care out there.

INTERNSHIP JOURNAL - WEEK 7

Good morning. Let’s just get straight to it. I’ve done more Photoshop this week. To be honest this was fun in the beginning but now I’d fancy some other tasks. But it’s fine! And I did get another task too so everything is good.
I have already explained what we do in Photoshop. Now I’ll just quickly explain what we do before and after a jewelry is placed on a model in Photoshop. First of all we open a Google Spreadsheet which have the names and product numbers of the jewelry we have to place on a model. Then we go to Box (which is like Dropbox) and with the help of the product number we search for the picture and information (size) of a specific jewelry. When it’s found we download the png or psd file of the jewelry. Then the process of clipping out and placing it on a model comes. When we are satisfied with the masking and placing we get it approved. If it gets approved we save it as a JPEG and place the file in a folder (FINAL MODEL PACKS) in Box. Finally we go back to the spreadsheet and write DONE (FÆRDIG).
The other task was to take a banner picture for the website's front page. The theme was high polished jewelry. The first bunch of pictures I took was not what they wanted (the first picture below). They said there was too much going on and I should keep it simpler. So that’s what I did and they liked it.
They used another picture I took and used it at the ‘BE INSPIRED’ page. As I mentioned in my last post, I like that they use our work. It shows they are content with what we are doing and it gives confidence. At my internship place they are very good at giving feedback and will tell you straightforwardly if they like your work or not. And that’s just how it should be. Looking forward to the weekend and sleep. Have a great one!
Yesterday I helped one of the other interns to take a picture. One of the pictures I took is now on the 'BE INSPIRED' page and others are used as Valentines presents inspiration.
Again today I helped with a new banner picture. I took the pictures and she stood model.
The picture below is also one I took of her. It's used in their Facebook page and newsletter.
